Volunteer
I've made good friends. I've had the opportunity to use administrative and organizational skills outside of my paid profession.
Over the years I have attended a long list of different training classes through the fire company. Some of that knowledge has been applicable in everyday life & my career before retirement. Some of the classes challenged me to get out of my comfort zone & overcome personal fears to do something new.
Being a firefighter is a wonderful way to contribute to the community and you receive as much personal satisfaction as you give.
It can be an adrenaline rush at times as well as fulfilling to give back to the community.
I volunteer to help protect my community and to help others in need.
