Volunteer Spotlight: Gary Davis

Gary Davis is a dedicated volunteer firefighter who has been with Conshohocken Fire Company No. 2 for the past 30 years. Starting his journey at just 14 years old with a different fire company, Gary joined Conshy fire company when he moved to the Borough.

“The best thing about volunteering is helping the community in the time of need and the joy you receive from helping others,” said Gary.

One of his most memorable moments was rescuing a woman who crashed her jet ski into the river. Gary and his fellow volunteers swiftly pulled her onto the rescue boat and transported her to medics at the Conshohocken boat ramp.

“You learn a lot of life-saving skills when you volunteer,” said Gary. “You also learn how to work as a team.”

Conshohocken Fire Company No. 2 is actively looking to expand its team of volunteers.

If you’re considering volunteering, Gary’s advice is simple: “Give any time that you have, get the training that is provided, and be safe in everything you do.” “There’s a job for everyone on the fire ground or in the firehouse,” he added.

Available volunteer positions include Firefighter, Rescue Operations, Fire Police, Junior Firefighter and Administrative Staff. To learn more about volunteer opportunities, visit the “Ways to Volunteer” section.
